The menu at N’Between spins to life using a QR code printed on a 45 single RPM vinyl record, adding a retro flair to the immersive experience. N’Between’s cocktail menu draws inspiration from Japanese bartending traditions, and features an extensive array of Japanese-crafted cocktails, whiskeys, and sakes. I ordered the Blank Slate, a tantalizing concoction merging blanco tequila and aquavit, infused with aloe and makrut lime for a burst of exotic flavors. The crisp taste of celery and the subtle sweetness of agave, perfectly balanced by the zing of lime and a hint of wasabi salt, came together perfectly in this cocktail. Lynette settled on the Viewer Discretion Advised, a captivating blend of gin and effervescent cava, elevated by the fragrant essence of shiso and the tropical allure of papaya and Thai tea. The subtle but zesty lemon and luscious passion fruit combined with the velvety texture of egg white adds a luxurious finish to this exquisitely crafted cocktail.
We ordered a few small bites to sample the menu. The Kushiyaki Maitake had a rich umami flavor, enhanced with a decadent sprinkle of truffle salt, creating a harmonious fusion of earthy tones and savory notes. The Maitake presented a delightful contrast of textures, as the tender maitake mushrooms are perfectly grilled to tenderness with a light smokiness. Next we had the Ebi Fry (breaded and fried shrimp), accompanied by a tangy tartar sauce and a refreshing squeeze of lemon. The succulent shrimp encased in a delicate, crunchy coating, delivered a delightful combination of textures and tastes. Finally, we had to have the Addictive Cabbage and this simple dish was surprissngly addictive. The crunch and subtle sweetness of the cabbage, seasoned to perfection with a secret blend of spices that keep you reaching for more. This humble yet irresistible side perfectly complemented the Maitake.
