Black Magic Hummus

Halloween is just around the corner, and it’s time to bring out the spooky, the eerie, and the delicious! This year, I'm sharing a unique twist on a party classic: my Black Magic Hummus. Perfectly themed for Halloween, this midnight-black dip is a crowd-pleaser that’s as much of a conversation starter as it is a flavor-packed treat.

With the traditional creamy texture of hummus and a hauntingly dark hue, Black Magic Hummus is an easy way to add a bit of mystery to your snack table. The inky color comes from black tahini, a paste made from black sesame seeds that lends a nutty, slightly more intense flavor than the usual white tahini. Its deep color is eye-catching and festive, without the need for any food coloring—just nature's magic!

The ingredients for Black Magic Hummus are simple but carefully chosen to create a balanced, bold flavor. It starts with the classic base of chickpeas, but I add a generous amount of roasted garlic to give it a rich, smoky undertone that complements the earthy notes of the black tahini. Fresh lemon juice and zest add brightness and cut through the creamy texture, while olive oil smooths it all out, making each bite velvety and satisfying. And a pinch of kosher salt (I love the clean flavor of Diamond Crystal) brings everything together, enhancing each ingredient and adding the perfect finishing touch.

This hummus is versatile and can be served with fresh vegetables, pita chips, or even spread on sandwiches for a little Halloween twist. And don't let the color fool you—this hummus isn’t only about the spooky visuals. It’s packed with flavor, and its haunting appearance makes it a memorable addition to any Halloween party. Plus, it’s a healthier option to balance out all those candy treats!

Whether you’re throwing a Halloween bash, enjoying a cozy night in with scary movies, or just love hummus with a twist, my Black Magic Hummus is a delicious way to embrace the season.
