Carving in the Wasatch: A Skiing, Snowboarding, Spa Adventure at Snowbird
Nestled high in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah, Snowbird Ski Resort stands as a mecca for winter sports enthusiasts, offering a snow sports and spa experience that seamlessly blends adrenaline-pumping slopes, breathtaking scenery, and a vibrant alpine community. As the snow-covered peaks beckon, skiers from across the globe converge on Snowbird to carve their paths through the pristine powder and immerse themselves in the thrill of downhill bliss.
Legendary Terrain: Snowbird is renowned for its exceptional and diverse terrain, catering to skiers of all levels. From gentle slopes for beginners to challenging steeps and moguls for the seasoned experts, the resort's 2,500 acres of skiable terrain provide a playground for every skill set. The variety of runs ensures that whether you're a novice seeking to perfect your turns or an expert craving a heart-pounding descent, Snowbird has the slopes to match your ambition. Our 14 year old wanted to begin snowboarding this ski season so we booked the Teen Mountain Experience. This was an all day lesson with lunch that really gave him the introduction and skills to begin snowboarding.
The Greatest Snow on Earth: Utah's claim to have the "Greatest Snow on Earth" isn't just a slogan—it's a reality experienced firsthand at Snowbird. The resort's location, nestled in the Wasatch Range, ensures a consistent and generous snowfall, creating an ideal playground for powder hounds. The light, fluffy snow—often referred to as Utah's champagne powder—creates an almost ethereal skiing experience, allowing skiers to effortlessly glide through nature's winter wonderland.
Iconic Tram and Lifts: The aerial tram at Snowbird is more than just a mode of transport; it's an iconic symbol of the resort's commitment to providing access to some of the most breathtaking terrain in the country. As skiers ascend the tram, they are treated to panoramic views of rugged peaks and snow-covered landscapes, setting the stage for the exhilarating descents that await. In addition to the tram, a network of chairlifts ensures that skiers can efficiently access various parts of the mountain, maximizing their time on the slopes.
Cliff Spa: My wife’s favorite perk of visiting Snowbird is enjoying rest and relaxation at the Cliff Spa. With its stunning mountain setting, world-class amenities, and a commitment to holistic well-being, Snowbird Cliff Spa delivers an unparalleled spa experience that transcends the ordinary. The spa's architecture mirrors the rugged elegance of the mountains, creating an ambiance of understated luxury. The centerpiece of the Snowbird Cliff Spa is its hydrotherapy circuit, a collection of pools and saunas strategically designed to promote relaxation and rejuvenation. Guests can embark on a journey through warm steams, invigorating outdoor pools, and soothing hot tubs, each element contributing to a holistic water therapy experience that leaves the body refreshed and the mind at peace.
After a day of pampering, guests can continue their relaxation in the spa's cozy lounges or venture to the outdoor terrace with heated pools. Here, surrounded by the crisp mountain air, you can unwind in the warmth of the bubbling hot tubs, taking in the beauty of the snow-covered landscape while sipping on a soothing herbal tea.
Lunch Break: Lunch at SeventyOne in Snowbird is an exquisite culinary experience that perfectly complements the exhilarating mountain adventure. Located amid the stunning peaks of the Snowbird Ski Resort in Utah, SeventyOne offers a gastronomic journey that matches the grandeur of its surroundings. The restaurant's sleek and modern ambiance, combined with floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing panoramic mountain views, sets the stage for an unforgettable midday reprieve. The menu at SeventyOne boasts a delectable array of dishes crafted with a fusion of local ingredients and international flair. From artisanal salads featuring fresh, seasonal produce to hearty mountain-inspired entrees, every bite is a celebration of flavor and quality. The attentive staff caters to every culinary desire, creating a dining experience that transcends the ordinary. Whether you're indulging in a leisurely lunch with friends or refueling for an afternoon on the slopes, SeventyOne at Snowbird is a culinary haven where the pleasure of good food meets the majesty of alpine beauty.
Alpine Après-Ski: After a day of carving through the powder, the vibrant village at the base of Snowbird comes alive with alpine après-ski festivities. Cozy lodges offer a perfect respite, complete with hot cocoa, crackling fireplaces, and the camaraderie of fellow skiers. The village also boasts a variety of restaurants and bars, providing the perfect backdrop for reliving the day's adventures and sharing stories of conquering the slopes.
While Jack got in a few more runs at the end of day, we headed to The Forklift for drinks and a bite. Renowned for its lively rustic atmosphere, with a roaring large fireplace, and breathtaking mountain views, transforms into a hub of excitement and camaraderie during the cherished apres-ski hours.
