Cocktails: Whip It Coffee Stout Cocktail

Dalgona (whipped coffee) is a craze all over TikTok that you just can’t escape anywhere on social media and it’s the inspiration for this weekend cocktail: Whip It Coffee Stout Cocktail. Whipped coffee requires instant coffee. Fortunately, I have instant coffee on hand because I use it in one of my most requested desserts, tiramisu. Whipped coffee gives me a new reason to whip out (pun intended) the instant coffee. This cocktail is perfect as a brunch or daytime cocktail because it has that caffeine kick that will perk you right up. Once NFL season starts up, I see this being a great football Sunday drink. Crossing all fingers and all toes that the pandemic is reeled in on time to start the regular season. That’s a topic for another time…

The Whip It coffee stout cocktail is fun to make and it tastes delicious creamy and frothy. Once you can have guests over again, it’s a good one to impress company with.

I used a coffee stout but I was also thinking about using a chocolate stout. You could do either and the flavors will work great together. I used oat milk. I like to limit my dairy intake when possible but I also like the creaminess of oat milk and I think it compliments the stout really well. You could try almond milk or dairy milk but I recommend using oat milk if you have it. It’s also really easy to make oat milk (I’ll have to do a tutorial on that soon!). Okay, throw on your ombre I Cook Therefore I am t-shirt and let’s get to the business of coffee stout cocktail making.

Whip It Coffee Stout Cocktail Ingredients

*Note: my brother in law mentioned that when making the coffee whip with a hand blender that does not have a whisk attachment you should double or increase the volume of ingredients to the number of cocktails or coffees you want to make. Double at least.

  • 3 teaspoons instant coffee

  • 2 teaspoons sugar

  • 3 teaspoons boiling water

  • 1/2 cup oat milk

  • 1 bottle of coffee or chocolate stout

Whip It Coffee Stout Cocktail Instructions

  • Combine coffee, sugar and water into a mixing bowl or tall deli container. Do not waste time doing the whip with a whisk challenge. For the untrained arm it requires more than 400 whips and is a time suck that will not change the results. Using an electric hand blender, whip 1-2 minutes until you achieve frothy, stiff peaks

  • In a glass add ice, and oat milk

  • Top glass with the whipped coffee

  • Separate whipped coffee with a spoon or stirrer and pour stout in. Stir all ingredients together and enjoy. Cheers!
