Avocado Toast Recipe
The key to making outstanding avocado toast is to use a thick cut bread. It’s worth it to head to the best bread bakery in town. Not only will you be serving the best possible version of avocado toast but you'll also enjoy the trip. Fresh baked breads, snag a warm treat and coffee for yourself and you're on your way! I recommend that you buy the bread whole and cut it yourself, because usually slicers are set a little too thin for a nice thick cut.
Getting started! Brush olive oil on both sides of your bread slices and then broil both sides. Every oven is different but you broil on high heat so keep your eye on your toast and it won't take long to get each side toasty. Broiling makes the toast crispy on the outside while leaving it nice and soft in the middle.
This seems like a no brainer, but use ripe avocados! I tend to always have one or two avocados ripping in my pantry so I'm usually prepared.
Use just a little bit of lemon juice. Taste as you go. Remember, you can always add in but you can't take out. Do not use too much acid, your avocado toast shouldn’t taste like guacamole.Top avocado toast with flake sea salt.
After you spread the chunky avocado spread, you can add your favorite toppers. Heirloom tomatoes, radishes, feta cheese, chili flakes, or eggs, all go really well on avocado toast.
Avocado toast really shouldn't be made in advance because your toast will get soggy. Prepare your avocado toast pretty much the moment just before you serve it.
