Hamptons Guide: Roberta's Pizza Montauk

Roberta’s Pizza Montauk

Address | 240 Fort Pond Rd, Montauk, NY 11954

Roberta’s Brooklyn wood-fired pizzas have finally come to the Hamptons, with an outpost at the very tip of Long Island in Montauk. I love a good pizza and one of the hardest trade-offs in the move from NYC to the Hamptons has been the pizza scene. We have a few decent options but Roberta’s elevates the pizza scene with the best pizza crust and sauce out east. Roberta’s Pizza opened in Montauk at the beginning of the summer season. Now that the summer crowds have dissipated, we decided to head out and enjoy the day in Montauk with Roberta’s Pizza being a key stop off in our plans for the day.

Sundays are a bit unusual in that only bar and to-go service is available, 1:00-10:00 p.m. It worked out well for me because I wanted to catch some Sunday football over a pie and drink. The space is large—5,400 square feet!—with indoor, outdoor patio, and of course, bar seating. The decor has a real laid-back beachy vibe.

I really wanted to try the signature pizza, Ursula’s Parade— littleneck clams, mozzarella, parmigiano, parsley, lemon, breadcrumb—but we arrived right at 1:00 and the littleneck clams had not yet arrived. Next time!

We ordered the Margherita—tomato, mozzarella, basil, extra virgin olive oil— and the Famous Original— tomato, mozzarella, parmigiano, caciocavallo oregano, chili. The pizzas were excellent. There’s a touch of sourdough taste to the crust. Great sauce to cheese ratio and really tasty sauce. My wife and I both preferred the original famous to the Margherita, it had more layered flavors. On the next visit I definitely want to give the Bee Sting—tomato, mozzarella, soppressata, basil, chili, honey— a try.
