Marrakech Guide: Nomad

Nomad

Address | 1 Derb Aarjane, Marrakesh 40000, Morocco

Nomad Marrakech was the perfect place for dinner on our first night in Marrakech. Our driver let us out at the center of Jemaa el-Fnaa open air market place to make our way through medina where Nomad is located. We made our way through snake charmers, dancing circles, and merchants selling jewelry, rugs, and spices until we reached Nomad. The restaurant is 4 floors consisting of dining rooms and the top two levels are terrace seating with incredible views of Medina and the Atlas Mountain range. The terrace seating is the most desirable, so be sure to book your reservation in advance. The setting was perfect with music and fresh air and tasty bites.

Our Starters: We ordered mint tea and fresh juices to drink which paired well with our starters. My favorite starter was the Sardine tart with tapenade, caramelized onions and green chermoula, salad of grilled bell peppers, red onions, green olives, preserved lemons, and argan oil vinaigrette. We also shared the Mezze plate of the season with house marinated olives and homemade yoghurt bread.

For our mains I had the Calamari from Agadir in cumin anchovy, ginger and harissa sauce, served with braised aubergine. It was one of my favorite dishes over the entire visit. Fresh and perfectly cooked it was very enjoyable. Jack had Grilled Lamb shank with seasonal spice and market vegetables which was also excellent and an incredibly large portion. Lynette went with the fish of the day wild caught local sea bream fillet with cardamom infused beurre blanc, lemon grass and seasonal organic market vegetables.

We were too satiated for dessert and ended the evening perfectly with a walk through the market and to Kasbah Mosque.
