Miami Guide: Bike Ride Historic Española Way

One of the best parts of a beach getaway in Miami is exploring by bike. One breezy morning, wanting to go farther into the heart of South Beach, we procured a couple of bikes provided by our hotel. We began riding down along the palm-tree lined beachside and decided to make our way towards the famous Española Way. It was just far enough to get in some good exercise and work up to the second espresso for the day.

Once you arrive at Española Way by bike you will have to dismount. This two block, pedestrian-only corridor has been on the South Beach scene since 1925. The architecture has a Mediterranean flare, setting an idyllic scene for a morning of shopping and sipping coffee, or an evening stroll and cocktail. When we arrived it was midmorning and we were ready for our second caffeine kick. After walking up and down the corridor and examining the menus of the many cafes and bars we landed on the French themed—from the menu, to the music to the posters adorning the walls—A La Folie Café (Address | 516 Espanola Way, Miami Beach, FL 33139 ). We ordered a couple of cappuccinos and sugar and lemon crepe.

After placing our order inside we took a seat outside where tables with umbrellas lined the sidewalk. It was pleasant to enjoy the weather, read the paper, and watch the passers by while sipping our cappuccinos.
