NYC Coffee Guide: Birch Coffee
Birch Coffee is one of my all time favorite coffee shops and must include in the NYC Coffee Guide. Birch Coffee serves up steaming hot cups of small batch, manually roasted in Long Island City, coffee. Of course, when the sun is out and the temperatures are up I really enjoy their cold brew too.
Location is everything. As my NYC Guide will show you, there are a lot of great coffee shops in NYC but often they don't have a lot of locations. It can be frustrating and stressful when you want to refuel and can't find a sure fire go to spot for your coffee kick. Birch Coffee has a fair amount of locations spread throughout uptown, downtown, midtown, east and west sides so you're never too far from a great cup of coffee. The roasts. As mentioned, Birch Coffee is small batch roasted locally in NYC and they do an awesome job. Every cup of coffee I have had from a Birch Coffee has been great and every bag I have brought home has had a quality and taste difficult few brands can match.
My go to cup of coffee tends to be an Americano or drip coffee, no sugar, no milk. Black as midnight on a moonless night as the saying goes. But when I have time to sit and enjoy a cup I change it up. At Birch my go to order is a macchiato, which is espresso with just a little bit of milk foam.
When I'm buying a bag of beans to use at home, if I'm looking to stock up to make espresso drinks (my go to morning drink is an Americano) I'm committed to Emma's Espresso blend. When I'm stocking up for drip coffee, truthfully Birch has a lot of great options, but one of my favorites is the Brazil Santa Ines.
