NYC Coffee Guide: Blue Bottle Coffee

Address | The Walker 396 Broadway New York, NY 10013

Blue Bottle is a coffee shop that I go to semi-regularly since I moved back to NYC in 2016. When my wife lived in Brooklyn she'd like to spend time sipping iced coffee on hot summer days in the small garden of the Park Slope location, so when we're looking for coffee and there's a location nearby it's somewhere we both enjoy going. The coffee is very good. Also, in researching for this post I came across how the name, Blue Bottle, originated. I'll link to their story here but it ties back to Vienna where both of my wife's parents are originally from.

This weekend my sister-in-law (in the photo below!) was in town for a fine jewelry holiday pop-up in Tribeca. We all had some free time to hang out after brunch and when we saw the Blue Bottle logo at the Walker Hotel across the street from her shop, we knew that would be a good place to spend an hour.

We were tempted by the pastry case which had a nice selection of cookies. We settled on splitting the salted caramel chocolate chip and cardamom cookies. They were both really tasty and had nice texture. The caramel cookie was chewy and the cardamom had a nice snap without tasting stale.

Between the three of us, we ordered two cappuccinos and an Americano. Although at this particular location, on this particular morning, it took an unusually long amount of time for our coffees to get to us they were very good. At any Blue Bottle location I've found that I can count on a consistently well prepared cup of coffee and good quality of roasted coffee bean. Fortunately, Blue Bottle has a lot of locations throughout NYC so if you need a good cup of joe you can just enter Blue Bottle in your google maps and likely there will be a location nearby. Blue Bottle has cafes around the world so you don't need to be in NYC to give it a try.
