NYC Guide: Harry Potter Store New York
Harry Potter Store NYC
Address | 935 Broadway, New York, NY 10010
We have been trying to squeeze a Harry Potter Store New York visit in since they opened up in the summer of 2021. The stars aligned on our last visit and we decided to pre-book the virtual reality experience, Wizards Take Flight, and pay the shop a visit. The Harry Potter store takes you right into the Wizarding World with books and brooms suspended from the ceilings. Some things mirrored the Harry Potter experience at Universal, like the Honeydukes candy shop but it was still fun to step into and shop around. There are three stories filled with books, mugs, robes, candies, and wands. The shopping alone is worth the experience.
There are two virtual reality experience options. Wizards Take Flight and Chaos and Hogwarts. Based on the previews we thought Wizards Take Flight would be a little more of a thrill and that’s where we went. Tickets are about $40 per person. We were taken to lockers where we were fitted with hand sensors, chose our Houses of course (two Gryffindors and one Slytherin among us!), and our avatars for the ride. In the vr room we were seated on brooms with a wand and the prerequisite head set and ready to ride. It was really immersive and fun. There was wind and water special effects and while of course you never leave your seat, you may find your stomach rise and drop with the twists and turns. All three of us really enjoyed it.
Following our Wizards Take Flight, we had to get some butter beer of course. We added to our collection of Harry Potter butter beer cups and also enjoyed butter beer ice cream, a golden snitch cookie, and Hedwig cupcake.
If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you’ll definitely want to hit this store up and of course don’t forget to book some tickets to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
