NYC Guide: Little Rascal

Little Rascal NYC

Address | 163 Elizabeth St, New York, NY 10012

We spent a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend in the city. The highlight was definitely a large family gathering at Little Rascal NYC for Mother’s Day brunch. Little Rascal serves delicious Mediterranean cuisine in a cozy rustic setting with large open windows that ushers in a cool city breeze. While Little Rascal is known for it’s cocktails, we were in a celebratory mood and shared bottles of sparkling rose and white wine to toast the Mamas at our table.

As with any larger dining group, sets of people filtered in by small group at a time. In order to stave off any raging appetites we started with the cheese platter and the three dip set which included Baba Ganoush, Hummus, and Cacik (Turkish yogurt with cucumbers and herbs). The starters were really tasty and served with hot bread. For mains, our little portion of the family had the Mediterranean Omelet—bell pepper, mushroom, goat cheese, with roasted sweet potatoes. This was definitely a favorite dish. As you can see in the photo, the omelet was served flat rather than rolled and had a nice texture with excellent filling accented by a sharp bite from the fresh spring onions. I tried the Avocado Fattoush with grilled bread and sunny side up egg. This was also really tasty and fresh brunch dish. Finally, we also ordered the Wild Salmon with arugula salad and rice pilaf. This classic dish was well executed and tasty.

Overall I really enjoyed our meal at Little Rascal. The intimate setting, good food, and reasonable prices make this a spot I would definitely return to. I also wanted to give a little shout out to the little wine shop next door Wine Therapy. We stopped in to bring some wines back to Sag Harbor with us and they had a nice eclectic collection.
