Paris Guide: Fondation Louis Vuitton

Address | 8 Avenue du Mahatma Gandhi, 75116 Paris, France

After visiting the Arc de Triomphe, we headed to the Fondation Louis Vuitton which had been highly recommended to me.  Located in the 16th arrondissement, the walk up to FLV is really peaceful.  It is located in Acclimatation Garden and so the path winds through quiet manicured neighborhoods and large green parks.  As you approach FLV Frank Gehry's impressive glass design slowly reveals itself, making a stunning sight to see once its full view is seen.   There is a water fountain running over a step like path.  The sound of the water adds to the calm and serenity of the grounds.

The current exhibit is "Le monde nouveau de Charlotte Perriand".  We weaved in and out of the rooms displaying furniture and housing designs with Picasso paintings adorning the walls.  When we came to the display of rooms designed by Perriand for Cité Internationale, Lynette showed me how the design was similar and different from the room she occupied while a visiting scholar.

Up on the roof. In addition to taking in the exhibits, Frank Gehry's design itself is a work of art worth exploring. There are a few access points to the outside where you can take in views of the park and get a closer up look at the building design.

Enjoy the video below.  The Fondation Louis Vuitton was definitely a museum worth visiting.  The architecture and displays were excellent and the area was beautiful  to see as well. After a few hours of art, design, music and nature we were ready for some refreshment and decided to head to our next stop, Le Grande Epicierie. More on that later.
