Following our private boat tour of Porto, we got settled into our apartment. Before long we were out exploring our new neighborhood for the next few days by foot. We quickly came upon Fábrica da Nata and decided it was a good moment to indulge in a national treasure of Portugal, their famed Pastel de Nata and coffee.

Inside the shop there is the pastry case and counter on one side and on the other side behind a glass facade you can catch a view of the baker’s making pastel de nata. If you’re unfamiliar, pastel de nata is a Portuguese egg custard tart pastry. Sized to fit perfectly in the palm of your hand, this delicious treat is best enjoyed with a generous dusting of cinnamon and sugar. Once you’re in Portugal, you will have ample opportunity to indulge in this treat. Fabrica da Nana pasteis de nata are very delicious, but I’ll tell you more about my favorite place for this treat in Lisboa in another post!
