The hotel's serene, upscale atmosphere, along with its high-end amenities such as private plunge pools, wellness programs, and attention to detail, provided the perfect romantic winter getaway. Located in the heart of Tulum's jungle, with thick canopies of tropical trees, vines, and exotic flora, Hotel Bardo creates a tranquil, shaded haven for guests. Hotel Bardo is tucked away in the jungle, just a short distance from Tulum’s famous beaches and the vibrant town center. The location provided us with the perfect balance of seclusion and convenience. The goal of our trip was to relax in a quiet and romantic environment away from busy, touristy areas and we found that serenity at Hotel Bardo while also being close to the local culture, and pristine beaches. In advance of our stay, our concierge was incredibly helpful in arranging a day at a private beach club, scooter rentals, and spa treatments.

The overall atmosphere is calming, with a focus on creating a space that promotes peace and mindfulness.

A key highlight of Hotel Bardo is its wellness offerings. The hotel has an extensive wellness program that includes a full-service spa, yoga classes, and personalized wellness treatments. Spa 13 draws its name and inspiration from the sacred number in Mayan culture, symbolizing the levels of heaven where their gods reigned over the earth. 13 is also the day of our first date and wedding anniversary so it has special personal meaning as well. The spa is a sanctuary where guests can enjoy massages, facials, and other treatments designed to promote relaxation and rejuvenation. We booked a couples massage at the Spa 13 which was incredible. We enjoyed an hour long massage followed by champagne, candle light and rose petals in the spa’s hot plunge pool. The hotel’s serene environment also encourages guests to disconnect from the outside world, making it an ideal destination for those seeking inner peace.

The menu includes a variety of Mexican-inspired dishes, as well as international options. The dining experience at Hotel Bardo is designed to be both indulgent and nourishing, with an emphasis on fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.

Hotel Bardo’s room service elevates the art of in-villa dining, offering a menu that perfectly complements its serene, luxurious setting. Enjoying breakfast in our villa was an unforgettable experience, starting with Ranchero Eggs—a vibrant dish of cilantro tortillas, fried black beans, gouda cheese, fried eggs, and a homemade chipotle red sauce topped with queso fresco, fresh cilantro, and avocado. The Avocado Toast, served on hearty black bread with poached eggs, guacamole, mixed greens, ball cheese, and cherry tomatoes, was equally delightful. A refreshing Jai Ganesh juice, blending chaya, green apple, orange, celery, Mayan honey, and ginger, paired beautifully with a colorful fruit plate and rich French press organic coffee sourced from Chiapas. This indulgent breakfast perfectly captured the essence of relaxation and flavor in Tulum.
