West Village Gem: Roey's NYC

Roey’s NYC

Address | 1 Perry St, New York, NY 10014

Roey's NYC is a beloved dining establishment located in the heart of New York City's West Village. Known for its warm and inviting atmosphere, Roey's offers a culinary experience that seamlessly blends comfort with sophistication. A few nights ago my wife and I found ourselves on a romantic stroll through the charming streets of the West Village. With a warm glow of the last stretches of sunlight settling on the historic brownstones and cobblestone streets, we decided we would find a neighborhood restaurant to enjoy drinks and dinner.

As we rounded the corner onto Perry Street, we caught a glimpse of Roey’s charming green stripped awning and as we approached to investigate we were taken in by the irresistible aroma of wood fired pizzas and the sound of chatter and glasses clinking. A table for two was not immediately available but we were happy to head to the intimate bar and enjoy Roey’s happy hour menu while we waited. We had rounds of Rosemary’s Spritz (prosecco, cappelletti) garnished with a sprig of rosemary (of course!), and the house red and rose wines.

When we were showed to our table, the warmth of the romantic atmosphere embraced us like an old friend, drawing us deeper into the heart of the restaurant. Soft lighting danced across the rustic decor, creating an ambiance that felt both intimate and inviting. The hum of conversation and laughter filled the air, adding to the lively energy of the space. For dinner we started with the Riveiera Salad (arugula, kale, brussels sprouts, artichokes, cherry tomatoes olives, pine nuts, parmigiano, basil vinaigrette). It’s a large salad so I recommend ordering to share, as we did. For our mains, of course we ordered a couple of the wood fired pizzas. We had the Burrata (cherry tomatoes, fresh burrata, basil) which featured a heaping serving of creamy burrata on each slice. You may want to use a fork and knife to dig into that one. We also had the Cacio e Pepe (taleggio, pecorino, mozzarella, black pepper). This white pie was delicious. The cheese was not overwhelming or greasy and the generous black pepper added a nice kick. I really enjoyed this pie.

Of course, we did not have room for dessert! Whether you're enjoying a romantic dinner for two or gathering with friends for a celebratory meal, Roey's NYC promises to delight your palate and leave you longing to return for more. It was a wonderful NYC dinner experience.
