On a recent dinner excursion to Nom Wah, we enjoyed the Shrimp and Snow Pea Leaf Dumplings. Each delicate parcel showcases plump shrimp encased in a tender wrapper, complemented by the crisp sweetness of snow pea leaves. Of course, I highly recommend that you order the iconic Shanghainese Soup Dumplings, a culinary marvel that captivates both the eye and the appetite. Delicately pleated and filled with savory broth and succulent pork, these dumplings are a testament to the craftsmanship of the kitchen. Bursting with flavor, each morsel offers a tantalizing interplay of textures, from the tender wrapper to the rich, savory broth that erupts with every bite, leaving a lasting impression that beckons for another taste.
Since my wife is pescatarian and because they’re really delicious, we opted for another shrimp dumpling, the Pan-fried Shrimp and Chive Dumplings. Golden and crisp on the outside, yet tender and succulent within, these dumplings are a favorite. The marriage of plump shrimp and fragrant chives creates a harmonious balance, accented by the irresistible crunch of the pan-fried exterior. I enjoy them dipped in a mix of soy and vinegar.
To complement the array of dumplings, we ordered the Chinese Broccoli in Oyster Sauce as a refreshing and vibrant accompaniment.
