Aruba Travel Guide: Eduardo's Hideaway and Beach Shack

Aruba Travel Guide: Eduardo's Hideaway and Beach Shack

When deciding where to eat in Aruba, you’ll find that locals and visitors suggest Eduardo’s as a favorite spot for breakfast and lunch. There are two locations, Eduardo’s Beach Shack and Eduardo’s Hideaway which was really close to our vacation house. We ate at both locations and the Hideaway just about every day while we were in Aruba. While the menus are similar, I definitely preferred and recommend the Hideaway. The first and most obvious reason is seating.

With pleasant outdoor and indoor seating, you can enjoy Aruba’s famous breeze while having your meal in a relaxed setting. I’m not a fan of eating on the beach and the beach shack doesn’t offer seating so you’ll be having your meal on the beach or to go. It rained the morning we went to the beach shack so we found covered benches where we could eat. For this reason, I would recommend you hit up Eduardo’s Hideaway. The second reason is that the overall execution of the dishes at the Hideaway were 100% every time whereas the Beach Shack had some misses (see reviews below). That being said, the service at both locations was excellent and I really enjoyed the healthy and innovative meal options.

Eduardo’s Beach Shack | J.E. Irausquin Blvd 87, Noord, Aruba

Eduardo’s Hideaway | Saliña Cerca 9N, Noord, Aruba

Now to review the food! We went there a lot so luckily for our readers we tried a lot of the menu items. Overall, the offerings are health-centric, all fresh and natural ingredients.

Caribbean Waffles

Savoury plantain waffles served with tofu scramble (egg scramble option as well), coleslaw, and greens

The flavors were interesting and it was good to try local flavors and a savory twist on waffles. You’ll see that you can always select between eggs or tofu and as someone who is watching their cholesterol, I liked the ease of the tofu option.

Breakfast Tacos

Tortilla wraps filled with scramble eggs, roasted potatoes, corn salad, sliced avocado, pickled onion and chipotle mayo drizzle

My wife loves tacos and so of course we had to try these. You’ll need a knife and fork as they are filled with all the delicious ingredients listed above.

Fruit Plate

Caribbean island weather and fresh fruit are just the perfect combination. We usually ordered a side of fresh fruit with each meal. Be sure to take the leftovers back to your place for a light and healthy post beach snack.

The coffee at Eduardo’s was a great way to start the morning in Aruba. The iced coffees with oat milk had a lot of oat milk so if you want it darker/stronger be sure to request.

Popular for their shakes and acai bowls, we tried a few of Eduardo’s fruit and veggie shakes and they were all delicious. With a combination of fresh and healthy ingredients, you can’t go wrong cooling off from the Aruba heat with any one of Eduardo’s shakes.

Bellini’s and Bloody Mary’s

Cheers! Toast to Aruba vacation brunch with some beautiful and tasty cocktails. Eduardo’s Hideaway has a full bar.

Tofu Poke Bowl

Tofu with salad, coconut rice, pineapple, mango, pickled ginger, wakame salad, avocado and crunchy toppings

The dressing that brings all the elements of this tofu poke bowl was really tasty. It’s a great dish that will leave you satisfied without feeling overly full which is a big plus for a day of adventuring around Aruba.

Tuna Burger with sweet potato fries

This burger was amazing, and worth the hype that our friends gave it before I ordered. The tuna was seasoned really well with soy ginger sauce a lot of nice asian flavors. The aioli sauce was also blended into the seaweed side salad which was really nice.

Chickpea Omelette

Pan fried and folded chickpea omelette filled with caramelized onions, mushrooms and spinach, chipotle mayo drizzle, side salad and avocado

Definitely my favorite dish. The texture and the flavors of the omelette were incredible. Unfortunately, we didn’t order this until our last day so I only had it once, but the upside of that is I got to try more of the menu items! We’ll call it a win.

Eggs your way…we ordered our eggs scrambled and enjoyed this traditional breakfast served with sourdough toast and a side salad.

Here I am, our first morning in Aruba enjoying Eduardo’s Beach Shack americano on the beach. The coffee is good, so if you’re like me and refuse to start the day without a good cup, Eduardo’s is a nice choice.

Avocado Smash

In all honesty, this was the only menu item at Eduardo’s that we did not like. The avocado are not the Hass variety and come from a varietal that is less creamy, a little more watery in taste and texture. The bread was fine, not great so there was nothing making this toast worthwhile and we didn’t finish it.

Banana Pancakes

These were really delicious. Light and fluffy served with fresh fruit and a soft serve frozen fruit topping.

Vegan Waffles

The fresh coconut shavings on this dish were nice. To be honest, the waffles were hard—stone hard in some spots—so I didn’t finish this dish either. Overall the quality at the Beach Shack didn’t match the excellent quality at the Hideaway so if you’re debating where to go, head to the Hideaway.

Half pineapple with fruit and acai. This was as delicious as it was beautiful. Beneath the fruit there was a layer of acai and granola. The fresh coconut shavings on top made it even sweeter.
