Hamptons Guide: Beaches
Time spent swimming in the ocean and building sandcastles is an ultimate part of summer. East Hampton and South Hampton host some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Pack plenty of sunblock and nautical themed beach towels, let’s dive into tips and information on two of my favorite beaches.
Address | 101 Ocean Ave, East Hampton, NY 11937
East Hampton Main Beach and East Hampton Georgica beaches are our favorite. The waves are usually large, the crowds small, and the sand soft. If you don’t have one of the handful of permits given to park at the beach, there is a lot where you can pay $30/day for parking. Alternatively, download the Ride Circuit app for free pick up and drop offs to whatever beach you prefer. Remember to bring a little cash to tip the driver. East Hampton Main beach has lifeguards on duty from Memorial Day-Labor Day. They also have well kept restrooms, rinse off areas, and a snack/drink bar.
Cooper’s Beach Southampton
Address | 268 Meadow Ln, Southampton, NY 11968
Cooper’s Beach is another family friendly option. Although towards the end of summer there were some stormy sea days, the waves in general are a little calmer than in East Hampton. You can park in a large lot for $50/day. There are life guards, restrooms, rinse off areas, and cute cafe for lunch and beverages. Truffle fries and fish tacos are the little Kamimuras favorite treats, while the cold brew is a life saver for the adults! At the cafe there is also a little beach shop where you can purchase beach friendly games, goggles, sunscreen or other items you might have overlooked. You can also rent large beach umbrellas for the day but when the beach is packed those go quickly so don’t wait.
Summer at the beach is as simple as that! Ride Circuit makes coming and going easy or paying the lot fee for the day is really worth it if you’re bringing a lot of beach toys and items to enjoy the day.
Long Beach is perfect for calm water swimming. Parking is paid or by permit. Long beach is great for kids because you can swim with floats and rafts with ease than at the beaches with large waves. The ice cream truck also comes around making it a fun day for the family.
Sagg Main Beach is one of the beaches we most frequently visit since settling in Sag Harbor. It’s a lifeguard-protected scenic beach with waves and soft sands. In the high season there are snack bars and restrooms.
