NYC Restaurants: KazuNori
KazuNori The Original Hand Roll Bar
Address | 15 W 28th St, New York, NY 10001
On our most recent trip to Los Angeles, we stopped into KazuNori for lunch on the recommendation of my Chef buddy before heading to the LACMA for the afternoon. We loved the casual dinning experience of enjoying hand rolls at the bar served as made to keep the nori wraps crisp so I was pleased to return to their NoMad location in New York City. KazuNori is a sister restaurant of Sugarfish and has the same trademark warm rice served in each hand roll.
The dining experience is casual and begins with checking the boxes on a little paper menu of the hand roll set, and/or individually selected hand rolls you’d like to enjoy for your meal. Once seated, at the communal bar, you’ll turn in your selections and be served your hand rolls as they are made, one at a time. The seafood quality is good and it also features some traditional Japanese ingredients that I love like Yumaimo—which you may know as Japanese mountain yam. The lobster hand roll has been a favorite for me in both L.A. and NYC. With drinks you can expect to spend under $50 per person.
KazuNori is a great spot for a quick and casual meal. It’s a fun date experience or excellent for hanging solo. KazuNori Hand Rolls offer a tantalizing fusion of fresh, expertly sourced fish and meticulously seasoned warm rice wrapped in crisp seaweed, delivering a burst of authentic Japanese flavors in every bite. You won’t find anything too creative so if you’re looking for hand rolls with more unique toppings and combinations I recommend you try Nami Nori in the West Village which is also a really fun and delicious NYC dining experience.
