Our lunch at Soothr was the perfect start to a fun day in New York City. Craving a delicious plant based meal and cocktails before heading to see Titanique, we chose Soothr for its stellar reviews and convenient location to the Daryl Roth Theater. Amid the weekend rush, compounded by heavy winter rains, we were thrilled to be seated without a reservation, and ready to indulge in their comforting Thai flavors and popular vibrant cocktails. As we’ve mentioned, we’re making a conscious effort to eat more plant-based meals, so we decided to explore the SOOTHR Green (Plant-Forward) section of the menu. The dishes were not only vibrant and flavorful but also showcased how creative and satisfying plant-based dining can be. Here’s a rundown of what we ordered.

All About Amethyst (Cocktail)

The All About Amethyst was a visual and sensory delight. This stunning cocktail featured butterfly pea-infused gin, which gave it a mesmerizing purple hue, complemented by the herbal notes of Montenegro. A splash of lime juice and a touch of syrup balanced the drink with a perfect blend of tartness and sweetness. The result was a refreshing, floral cocktail that felt as magical as its name suggests.

Pay-T(h)ai (Cocktail)

The Pay-T(h)ai was a bold and adventurous choice, combining tequila and mezcal for a smoky base. The addition of tamarind syrup added a tangy sweetness, while the Thai chili brought a subtle heat that lingered pleasantly on the palate. A rim of salt and lime juice tied everything together, creating a cocktail that was both complex and refreshing.

Chive Cakes (Small Bite)

The Chive Cakes were a crispy, flavorful treat that we couldn’t get enough of. Made with rice flour and stuffed with fresh chives, these cakes were lightly fried to perfection. Served with a spicy soy vinaigrette, they offered a delightful combination of savory, spicy, and tangy flavors. The crispy exterior and soft, herbaceous interior made them an irresistible small bite.

Roasted Vegetable Trio Masamun Curry (Entree)

The Roasted Vegetable Trio Masamun Curry was a hearty and comforting main course. This vegetarian curry featured roasted pumpkin, cauliflower, and potatoes, all simmered in a rich, aromatic Masamun curry sauce. The addition of ground peanuts added a creamy texture and nutty flavor, while the pickled red pearl shallots provided a tangy contrast. Every bite was a celebration of Thai flavors, making it a standout dish.

Roasted Eggplant Salad (Small Bite)

The Roasted Eggplant Salad was a flavor-packed starter that set the tone for the meal. The smoky, tender eggplant was paired with aromatic lemongrass, sharp shallots, and fresh mint, creating a vibrant mix of flavors. A sprinkle of chili powder added a gentle kick, while the puffy rice provided a satisfying crunch. Topped with a fried poached egg—the only non-plant component of our order—this dish was a perfect balance of textures and tastes.
