Paris Guide: Breakfast at Ten Belles Bread

Paris Guide: Breakfast at Ten Belles Bread

Address | 17-19 Rue Breguet, 75011 Paris, France

When we booked our hotel in the 11th arrondissement we weren't aware that it was the mecca for new and popular restaurants in Paris, but we gladly received that knowledge as we began mapping out where we wanted to eat. Ten Belles Bread came up in our pre-trip research as the place to go for excellent coffee and really good bread.  I was really looking forward to a great cup of coffee.  Everywhere we went the coffee was good but not excellent.  Being a New Yorker I'm really spoiled with all the amazing coffee shops we have (curious what I like best? See my NYC Coffee Guide) I couldn't wait to give it a try.  Since it was just my wife and me from here on out on our trip, we slept in and when we woke we took a walk in the brisk November morning air from our hotel to Ten Belles Bread.

As we approached the bakery we could see fresh loaves of bread and pastry being baked from an observatory window.  After patiently waiting a solid three days for an excellent cup of coffee the first order I put in was for an Americano and a cafe creme. With that we ordered a hummus and vegetable sandwich on focaccia, a beet and comte cheese sandwich and a sweet breakfast bun.

Now, the coffee was good but I have to set the record straight for anyone else reading the reviews.  It's not remarkable. It's not worth basing your plans around.  Truthfully, Mokonut had the best coffee but again, it was nothing to write home about. So, if you want a decent coffee in Paris, yes you can get one at Ten Belles Bread but it won't blow you away.  The bread on the other hand was very good.  The beet and comte sandwich was excellent.  The sweet bun wasn't too sweet which I appreciate but I think would have been better served warm.

It was a perfect place for breakfast before we set out for a day filled with a lot of sightseeing.  I definitely think Ten Belles is Paris Guide list worthy.  You'll enjoy the breads and ambiance and like I say, for a quick bite in between or before sightseeing it's the perfect spot. Ten Belles bread is the last breakfast spot on the video below. Enjoy!
