Sparkling Celebration: NYE Dinner at Current Fish & Oyster
After the festivities of Christmas we headed to Utah to ring in the New Year with skiing, and some time in the desert mountains. On New Year’s Eve surrounded by friends and family, we bid farewell to the old and welcomed the new in an evening that seamlessly blended gourmet indulgence, festive cheer, and the warmth of shared laughter at Current Fish & Oyster.
From the moment we stepped into Current Restaurant, the ambiance set the stage for an unforgettable New Year's Eve celebration. The dimmed lights and tasteful decorations created an intimate yet lively atmosphere, making it the perfect backdrop for a night of revelry. The soft hum of conversation and the clinking of glasses formed a symphony of anticipation.
The New Year's Eve menu at Current offered starters, mains, and dessert and with so many of us at the table we ordered a bit of everything. The evening began with a selection of exquisite appetizers—Oyster Shooters (dill oil, verjus, cucumber); Seared Ahi (yuzu ponzu, jalapeno relish, radish, mushroom crumble); Local Burrata (carrot harissa, calabrian, oil, local honeycomb, crostini). Coupled with our starters we toasted to the evening with an exquisite selection of cocktails that perfectly complemented our meal.
The main course, featured a diverse array of options to please every palate. Hearty servings of the mains made rounds and included Salmon (green beans, boniato, orange, tamarind sauce); Seared Scallops (crispy rice cake, snap pea, tri-colored carrot, wild mushroom, carrot-ginger nage); Black Cod (fennel soubise, broccolini, red potato, dill, herb crumble) and Braised Short Rib (bordelaise, whipped potatoes, confit carrot, braised fennel).
Dessert concluded the evening on a high note. We enjoyed decadent Poached Pear (red wine poached pear, caramelized white chocolate, spiced crumble) and Chocolate Salted Caramel Tart (chocolate shell, salted caramel, dark chocolate ganache, honey ricotta cream, espresso).
Memories to Cherish: As we bid farewell to Current Restaurant and the welcoming embrace of its staff, we carried with us not just the flavors of a remarkable meal but the warmth of shared moments with friends and family. New Year's Eve at Current was more than a dinner—it was a celebration of connection, a testament to the power of good food and good company in marking the passage of time.
In the glow of the new year, our hearts were full, our taste buds delighted, and our spirits lifted. If the start is any indication, 2024 promises to be a year filled with delicious adventures, shared laughter, and the joy of savoring life's special moments.
