Tulum Guide: Burrito Amor

Burrito Amor

Address | Av. Tulum Mz 05-Lote 03, Tulum Centro, Centro, 77760 Tulum, Q.R., Mexico

Burrito Amor is casual health forward eatery. One of our favorite aspects of Burrito Amor is their extensive beverage program which features fresh juices, aguas frescas, locally brewed coffee, and health smoothies and tinctures that rival Erewhon. Their drink menu often features creative combinations, like passion fruit with chia seeds or coconut water-based beverages. You can enjoy cocktails and mocktails as well. Known for their signature burritos, Burrito Amor serves handmade coconut flour tortillas (a gluten-free option) or traditional flour tortillas. They're packed with vibrant fillings like slow-cooked pork, grilled shrimp, or roasted vegetables. Many fillings have a Yucatán-inspired flavor profile. The menu features plenty of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free dishes. They also offer "naked burritos," which are served as bowls without the tortilla for a lighter option.

We had the chance to dine at Burrito Amor twice during our holiday in Tulum. We were hooked on Burrito Amor’s smoothies and in addition to coffee or a little brunch cocktail that meant no fewer than 4 and sometimes 5 or 6 beverages on the table at a time. We tried the Digestion smoothie. It’s is a tropical powerhouse designed to soothe and revitalize the gut, blending juicy pineapple and papaya with the tangy zest of orange juice and the warmth of ginger and turmeric. A touch of date paste adds just the right hint of sweetness, creating a balance between functional and flavorful. It’s a perfect choice for kickstarting your day or as a refreshing pick-me-up after exploring Tulum's vibrant streets.

The Anti-Aging smoothie and the Cold Brew Detox showcase Burrito Amor’s creative approach to wellness beverages. The Anti-Aging smoothie is a berry-rich elixir featuring raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries blended with house-made golden milk, spinach, spirulina, and date paste for a creamy, nutrient-packed drink with a slight sweetness. The Cold Brew Detox, on the other hand, is a bold and complex blend of cold brew coffee, cacao, vanilla, and kale, infused with cayenne pepper and a detox tincture for a subtle kick. Freshly made almond and coconut milk bring a velvety texture, while date paste provides natural sweetness without overpowering the other flavors. Both smoothies offer a unique spin on superfood-packed drinks, making them as indulgent as they are energizing.

For a brunch cocktail the Flute of Flowers is a delightful effervescent drink. Combining the floral tang of natural hibiscus water with the subtle crunch of chia seeds. The sparkling wine elevates the drink, adding an effervescent touch that pairs beautifully with the tropical ambiance and vibrant flavors of Tulum. It’s the perfect blend of refreshing and celebratory, making every brunch feel like a special occasion.

Burrito Amor’s burritos are a true celebration of fresh, local ingredients wrapped in a perfect tortilla, and each one tells its own story through flavor. The Vegan Burrito was a standout, offering a hearty yet wholesome combination of nopal, grilled chaya (a traditional Mayan green), whole black beans, and amor rice. The addition of pico de gallo and creamy avocado brought brightness and richness to every bite, while the epazote dressing added a distinctly earthy, herbaceous note that tied the flavors together. This burrito not only satisfied but felt nourishing—a perfect choice for plant-based diners or anyone seeking a lighter option without sacrificing taste.

The Fillet of Fish Burrito captured the essence of coastal dining in Tulum. Tender grilled fish was complemented by the sweetness of mixed bell peppers, with amor rice providing a fluffy, slightly nutty base. A hint of lime infused each bite with a refreshing citrus tang, elevating the dish with a burst of brightness. Wrapped in Burrito Amor’s signature coconut flour tortilla, this burrito was light yet satisfying, showcasing the natural flavors of the fresh seafood without overwhelming them. It’s a must-try for anyone craving a taste of the ocean with a tropical twist.

For breakfast lovers, the Organic Eggs and Chaya Burrito was a delicious way to start the day. Fluffy organic scrambled eggs paired beautifully with the grilled chaya, creating a protein-packed, nutrient-dense filling. The burrito was perfectly balanced with the addition of amor rice, which added texture, and the wrap itself was hearty without being heavy. The simplicity of the ingredients allowed their quality to shine through, making this burrito both comforting and energizing. It’s a fantastic example of how Burrito Amor masterfully blends traditional Mayan flavors with a modern, health-focused approach to cooking.
