NYC Guide: 24 Hours in NYC

NYC Guide: 24 Hours in NYC

Shot over to NYC for a little 24 hour trip from Sag Harbor. What do I do with 24 hours in the city? Here’s a look at our itinerary and a video with some clips that I hope you enjoy!

Day 1 NYC Itinerary

  • Afternoon, we loaded the car with overnight bags and healthy snacks. We included cashews, peanuts, sliced apples, peeled cara cara oranges, hard boiled eggs, and popcorn with a Starbucks run for cold drinks and hot sandwiches for my sons who were joining right after school, a time when their appetites are large. Lynette and I grabbed a bite at Provisions cafe before we hit the road.

  • 5:00 p.m. Check in to hotel

  • 6:00 p.m. Walk to outdoor dinner at Totto Ramen and Hide-Chan Ramen . This was such a relaxing and fun activity. The food was delicious and we ordered several different apps and bowls of ramen. My wife and I’ve had Totto Ramen before in Hell’s Kitchen and we loved it so we were really excited to go to their Midtown East location. We’re only eating at restaurants with outdoor dining and an unexpected bonus was that when you sit outside you can order from both Hide-Chan and Totto Ramen. You’ll see in the video that we took advantage of sampling some dishes from both menus.

  • Back to the hotel (stopping to pick up Pokemon cards along the way…) to relax

Day 2 NYC Itinerary

  • 8:00 a.m. Pennylane Coffee: started the morning with my early risers (Lynette and Jack) on a walk to grab some espressos and baked goods from Pennylane coffee. The baked goods are from Balthazar and both the food and coffee were good. We stayed in Midtown East by the United Nations so it was fun to show my son the different country mission headquarters and flags along the way.

  • Back to hotel to get ready for the day and pack

  • 11:00 hotel check out and walk to brunch

  • 11:30 a.m. outdoor brunch at Copinette for French/American fare. The weather was gorgeous, the service was excellent, and the meal enjoyable. Would recommend for midtown east brunch.

  • 1:00 p.m. walk toward Central Park with a stop at Katagiri for Japanese snacks, Time Warner Center for some shopping at Amazon Bookstore.

  • Afternoon at Central Park with the family, playing ball and grabbing some Mr. Softee ice cream cones

  • 5:30 p.m. Outdoor dinner in Sunnyside Queens at SoleLuna . SoleLuna is a laid back Italian restaurant steaming hot piles of pasta and other delicious Italian dishes. Again, the service was friendly and good.
