Cocktails: Citrus Berry Martini-Three Ingredient Cocktail

Cocktails: Citrus Berry Martini-Three Ingredient Cocktail

I’ve noticed that during shelter in place people are looking for ways to get the most out of a cocktail or dish using as few ingredients as possible and so this is the perfect time to share the recipe for my citrus berry martini- the three ingredient cocktail. This three ingredient cocktail is simple, looks elegant, and tastes great. The jam gives your cocktail a good flavor profile and the sugar that a sweet cocktail needs without that extra ingredient of simple syrup or agave.

It’s also a really good base if you want to add some tonic, grapefruit juice, or other sodas or juices to your cocktail mix. The citrus berry martini can also be made with a variety of different kinds of jam and clear liquors that can really change up the taste. That makes the three ingredient cocktail incredibly versatile and exciting. It’s really flexible that way.

We were having virtual cocktail hour with my brother in law and his partner (who are all the way across the country in Salt Lake City), and we told them about this three ingredient cocktail. Intrigued, they decided to give it a try on the spot. On hand they had a nice homemade raspberry  jalapeño jam. They paired that with tequila and lime and then topped it off with a little splash of grapefruit Fresca. The color was great and the added heat from the jam played into the cocktail nicely (they got fancy and added a salt rim so great combination all around). As you’ll see in the video below, my raspberry and peach jam that I used was infused with vanilla. The vodka picked up the vanilla notes really nicely and just made it a smooth and delicious cocktail.

So, you can enjoy the citrus berry martini by sticking with it as a three ingredient cocktail and it tastes great, or you can use it as a base and add a little splash of this or that. If you don’t have jam in the house but you have some fruit (apricots, peaches, figs, oranges) or berries (blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries) then you can whip up a fresh and delicious batch in no time using my jam recipe here. So give the citrus berry martini-three ingredient cocktail a try and let me know what signature you put on it to make it your own. Cheers!
