Cocktails: Strawberry Margarita + Champagne

It’s strawberry margarita time with a champagne twist! I’ve mentioned before that when hosting a party a signature cocktail is a must-have. First, it helps celebrate the theme of the party and secondly you can make in advance and put out in pitchers with spigots allowing self serve. This saves time while keeping the mood on theme and festive.

I created the strawberry margarita with champagne cocktail in honor of my wife’s birthday the first year we were together. She loves champagne. She loves strawberries and had told me that as a child she would request strawberries rather than cake for her birthday. She also loves skinny margaritas. That’s what I took into account when coming up with this signature cocktail. For the party we called it the Lynita in her honor. Feel free to name this according to your theme. Cheers!

Strawberry Margarita + Champagne Recipe

makes 4 cocktails

• 1/2 cup blanco tequila

• 1/2 cup of triple sec (using Cointreau here)

• 1/2 of fresh strawberries pureed

• 1/2 cup fresh lime juice

• 2 tablespoons agave

• Pink and green sugar mixed with salt for the rim

• Ice cubes

• 1/4 cup (per serving) champagne (cava or prosecco are good too!)
