Hamptons Guide: Brunch
One of the best parts of any weekend is finding the perfect spot to brunch. In the Hamptons it’s easy to enjoy long mornings at home playing corn hole and football in the sun and eating stacks of waffles—hot off the griddle—with fresh picked, sun warmed raspberries, blueberries, black berries, and strawberries (Hanks Summer Farmstand is our favorite spot for this summer activity, more on that later). Even so, every now and again we love to step out for brunch.
Topping Rose Restaurant Jean-Georges
Address | 1 Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike, Bridgehampton, NY
Jean-Georges restaurants are always a sure hit. Nestled in the Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton is the Topping Rose Restaurant by Jean-Georges. This popular restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor patio seating. The menu offers farm-to-table dishes created from ingredients grown on the Topping Rose property's farm and sourced from other local farms and fisherman—of which the Hamptons has an abundance of. When offered, the sweet pea soup tastes fresh from the garden and is worth ordering. Classic brunch dishes like eggs Benedict over smoked salmon are well executed. Toast to the weekend with a traditional mimosa or the strawberry royale cocktail. For dessert the deconstructed strawberry shortcake is the ultimate summer treat.
Silver Lining Diner Southampton
Address | 32 Montauk Hwy, Southampton, NY 11968
As you drive from Southampton towards East Hampton the bright yellow light of the Silver Lining Diner sign and crowds of people streaming in and out will surely catch your eye. Turn off Montauk Highway and into their lot for a classic Diner brunch experience. The coffee mugs have colorful messages to perk you up. The Chicken and Waffles slathered in maple syrup were a hit with my littlest, Jack. All the kids liked the no frills hearty portions. You can also choose from healthier options like the breakfast bowl below.
Omelette with classic homestyle breakfast potatoes to start the day for my son, Ace. In the summer time be prepared to wait in line for this popular eatery.
