Hamptons Guide: Tate's Bake Shop

Wherever you are in New York, Tate’s crispy cookies are a favorite and stocked on the shelves of grocers, drug stores, and delis. Hailing from Southampton, a perk of holiday in the Hamptons is the chance to visit Tate’s Bake Shop. Like Wölffer Estate’s Summer in a Bottle, stopping off at Tate’s for cookies and fresh baked goods is just part and parcel of summer in the Hamptons. When you enter the happy green cottage in pursuit of their cookies, you’ll quickly realize that Tate’s offers so much more. In terms of the cookies, my favorite is the classic chocolate chip but there are a lot of other varieties to try (lemon, strawberry oat, oatmeal, and so on) and by now I’ve more or less tried them all (including gluten free options).
Beyond cookies, Tate’s Bake Shop also sells cupcakes, pies, brownies, and my favorite, giant ice cream sandwiches. Check it out in the photo below. So good! I usually get vanilla sandwiched between chocolate chip, but the pumpkin is good as well as peanut butter. You can’t go wrong. If you’re in search of a delicious cake for your summer celebrations, Tate’s will make them to order. They’re both classically elegant and really tasty.
