Hamptons Guide: Wölffer Estate Wine Stand
Address | 3312 Montauk Hwy, Sagaponack NY
Over the past few summers we’ve spent in the Hamptons, one of our favorite traditions is to visit the Wölffer Estate Wine Stand during sunset. We had to include it in our Hamptons guide. Turning off of Montauk Highway for an evening of wine, music, and stunning view of the vineyards and open countryside is something my wife and I love to do. We’ve enjoyed sharing this tradition with friends and family who visit, and they are equally enamored with the charm of an evening on this estate. After a day on the beach, it’s the perfect relaxed evening out.
The wine stand offers Wölffer wines by the glass or by the bottle. Our favorite is to enjoy their sparkling rosé, Noblesse Oblige. If you have some time, buy by the glass to try a variety of their wines. Normally, (during social distancing the wine stand is currently open for drive through purchase and pick up only) from May-September you can enjoy your wine al fresco and enjoy live music. We’ve always been able to snag seating at one of the many tables, but you can also bring a blanket to sit on if you prefer or as a back up. Many people enjoy the picnic style option. If you’re feeling peckish you can order cheese, charcuteries boards, or small plates.
The scene is idyllic and lively and watching the sun sink behind the vineyards is spectacular. While it is not permitted to wander too deep into the vineyards themselves, take a walk to get a close up view of the fruit and vines that make Wölffer’s wines. It’s a beautiful backdrop for a photo.
Plan on staying awhile to enjoy the evening and the music and watching the full sunset. As excited as we are to begin summer in the Hamptons with a visit to Wölffer Estate Wine Stand, it is also a bittersweet tradition to end the summer with one last stop.
Finally, as you leave Wölffer Estate Wine Stand you might want to purchase some of their wines or ciders on your way out. Their Summer In A Bottle Rosé is the quintessential taste of summer in the Hamptons.
Cheers!
