Hamptons Guide: Grindstone Coffee and Donuts
Address | 7 Main St Sag Harbor, NY 11963
Since we’re all sheltering in place and feeling restless, I decided now would be a great time to celebrate where we are and to create a Hamptons Guide. It is a little paradise here that we sometimes take for granted. The pristine beaches, vineyards, Inns and restaurants, wild life—deers, bunnies, and wild turkeys—roaming freely, and history have a lot to offer. Especially in the sunny months of summer. So this week, I am going to share with you some of our favorite places to eat, swim, and explore in the Hamptons. Our first post takes us to the village of Sag Harbor to sink our teeth into their popular over stuffed donuts and to grab a good cup of brew.
Grindstone has been serving gourmet coffee and doughnuts in Sag Harbor since 2016. Their doughnuts, glazes, and fillings are made in house and small batch. The glazes and fillings are made from locally-sourced organic ingredients, which is important to me when indulging in a sweet treat. Their donut menu is updated daily and offers enticing classics like glazed doughnuts and (my wife’s favorite) sugar doughnuts as well as the churro doughnut, Boston cream, and delicious jelly filled. In addition to their doughnuts, Grindstone offers an extensive espresso menu as well as teas (including matcha!) to enjoy with your treat.
I ordered a regular drip coffee it was really good. Grindstone advertises using Ace Coffee and Stumptown so I’m not sure which I had but it was solid. Lynette had a cold brew with a splash of oat milk and it really was something else. Delicious. To eat we tried the churro donut, Boston Cream, Lemon Poppyseed filled with strawberry jam, and an East Coast favorite the cider donut with carmel glaze. It took us a few days to get through eating all of them because they are sweet and stuffed but a fun and tasty treat.
