New Orleans Guide: Hotel Peter & Paul

Hotel Peter & Paul

Address | 2317 Burgundy St, New Orleans, LA 70117

Our visit to New Orleans began with selecting the perfect hotel for our stay. After some research, we decided to book the Hotel Peter & Paul. Located in the Marigny—a New Orleans district known for its bohemian vibe, lively bars and jazz clubs along Frenchmen Street, bistros and sidewalk musicians and brass bands— the former Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic church and school have been transformed into what is now the Hotel Peter and Paul. The property consists of a former schoolhouse, rectory, church and convent. Each building has been restored and renovated by the Ash NYC Design Team to house guest rooms, event spaces, a restaurant and bar, coffee shop, and ice cream parlor.

I’ll share more about the food and beverage, but this entry will focus on our accommodations.

Upon entering the School House for check-in, you’re met with grand staircases leading up the center and on either side of the entrance. Natural light fills the space and low lighting dims the many corners, nooks, and cranies.

The Hotel Peter and Paul staff are incredibly friendly and helpful in providing any services you might need.

After check-in we headed to our room on the third floor. From the elevators we walked through a fantastical hallway of mint green drapes and ornate antique chandaliers toward our room.

We were assigned 313 (13 is our lucky number and anniversary date!). The door to the room was located center stage of the school’s former auditorium.

We booked the School House Classic. Gingham drapes adorned the high windows and antique four poster bed. Antique and bespoke furnishings adorned the room and rotary phone sat bedside.

All beds at the Hotel Peter and Paul and made up with custom Italian linens.

One of the most beautiful features of the School House Classic is the hand-painted striped tile showers. They are simply stunning.

Toiletries are made exclusively for Hotel Peter and Paul and had a nice woodsy scent.

On the bedside table was a welcome note—a classy touch—and two tokens for free cocktails at the Elysian Bar.

Our stay at the Hotel Peter & Paul was one of my favorite experiences of the trip. In addition to excellent service and unique, beautiful accommodations, the room including a map of the area with staff favorites for shopping, music, and food in the area as well as a book describing New Orleans’ neighborhoods and history that served as an excellent reference.

If you’re heading to New Orleans, I highly recommend staying at the Hotel Peter & Paul.
