Paris Guide: Château de Versailles

Paris Guide: Château de Versailles

Getting to Versailles from Paris is in fact quite easy using the metro system. This would have been my preferred form of transit, but I was in a group and out voted. We decided to go by car. While there are some conveniences in going by car, I still think that the train would have been preferable because the car is subject to traffic and because we were a group of four and seating on a train is more conducive to engaging in conversation than the seating structure of a car.  Regardless, both options are easily accessible.

I was the only one of our group who had been to Versailles before and so at first I was a bit hesitant when planning to spend half a day there.  As we drove up to the opulent golden gates, I changed my mind and realized that it would be fun to wander the palace again and this time around in more free form since I was already familiar.  The palace really speaks for itself and its French Baroque style is a feast for the eyes.
I'll include some photos here and you can see more, especially of the stunning gardens, in the video below.

Marie Antoinette's Bedchamber gave my wife and sister-in-law some fancy bedroom ideas, although in the end, they both decided their tastes are more of a clean modernist type, so my future is free from the worry of the possibility of a feather adorned bed. Sometimes the ladies got caught up in twirling on the palace
grounds, or sneaking off for macaron.  Since I had been before I didn't mind revisiting some of the rooms with them once they caught up, and even stopping for a mirror selfie or two.

After visiting the gardens, and seeing a perfect rainbow arch over the palace (see video) we decided to go off palace grounds for some refreshment.
