Following our Fado Show we made a long climb from the Bridge back up to the center of Porto built an appetite in the process. We headed towards Tapabento but they were booked solid and strongly recommended we head up the street to O Rápido for “the best Portuguese food”. O Rápido was also very booked but managed to rearrange some tables and set our party of 4 for which we were very grateful.

The recommendation did not fail. Rápido’s classic Portuguese cuisine was top notch. We started with their house white wine which had a crisp, clean taste. The grilled loup de mare was wonderful as was the battered cod, of course we had the bachalau cakes, and another cod dish served on a bed of freshly made potato chips. We also ordered a salad to some greens in! The restaurant was busy and packed with locals which is always a good sign. I would definitely recommend O Rápido for traditional Portuguese cuisine at a very reasonable price.
