Baron’s Cove

Address | 31 W Water St, Sag Harbor, NY 11963

We are in the height of celebrating summer’s last hurrah before back to school begins after the Labor Day holidays, so when family came in from the city for a few days we decided to indulge in sun, sea air, and good eats at Baron's Cove in Sag Harbor. This charming and upscale hotel houses a popular restaurant known for its classic American cuisine with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients and water views. The restaurant has a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere, reflecting the nautical charm of Sag Harbor. It features a combination of indoor dining spaces with cozy, elegant decor and outdoor seating that offers beautiful views of the harbor.

Since the weather is at peak summer sun with a light cool breeze, we decided to sit outside. The menu changes seasonally, highlighting the best of local produce, seafood, and meats. Expect dishes like fresh oysters, lobster rolls, and a variety of seafood-centric plates. You'll also find classic American comfort food with a gourmet twist, such as steaks, burgers, and roasted chicken. Their breakfast and brunch menus are also popular, featuring options like avocado toast, eggs benedict, and blueberry pancakes. Baron’s Cove boasts an extensive wine list and creative cocktails that pair well with the menu. They often feature wines from local vineyards and craft beers from nearby breweries.

As a post tennis, pre-beach meal we ordered drinks and several small bites to share. The Caesar with baby gem lettuce, charred radicchio, and garlic-herb bread crumbs offers a perfect balance of crispness and savory anchovy flavors, all elevated by the richness of Parmesan. Paired with the Crispy Calamari, where the bright notes of preserved lemon and Calabrian chiles shine through the umami-rich kombu oil, this meal is a delightful medley of textures and tastes. The Tuna Tartare, with its delicate smoked egg vinaigrette, briny capers, and fresh sorrel, is perfectly complemented by the crunch of housemade potato chips for a satisfying and flavorful bite. Our son had the 8oz Dry Aged Angus Burger with fries and gave it a rave review.

To drink we enjoyed cocktails, I had a frozen Piña Colada and Lynette enjoyed the spicy passionfruit margarita. For it’s food and coastal village ambiance, Baron’s Cove is a Hamptons restaurant that we definitely recommend.
