Miami Guide: Monty's Sunset on South Beach

Miami Guide: Monty's Sunset on South Beach

Monty’s Sunset on South Beach

Address | 300 Alton Rd, Miami Beach, FL 33139

This morning my wife, Lynette, and I were making travel plans and reminiscing about some of our favorite trips and experiences. One thing I really enjoy while traveling, is finding a place that serves great food that’s representative of the region and little off the beaten path. I alluded to one of our trip’s to Miami and how I loved happenstance coming across Monty’s Sunset on South Beach and enjoying not only great food but a stunning sunset as well. It occurred to me that I hadn’t included this spot on our Miami Guide and so I headed over here to tap out a little review of Monty’s for you.

There are indoor and outdoor seating options available. Given the gorgeous weather, we opted for outdoor dining where we had a great shot of the marina and enjoyed the changing colors of the sky with the slow sunset.

Raw Bar: Jonah Stone Crabs Claws (Medium Claw) | Florida Style Peel & Eat Shrimp | Oysters on the Half Shell

I love a good raw bar, seafood tower, pretty much any iteration of great fresh, seafood with nothing but some fresh lemon and lime juice over the top. You’ll have to get your hands in and get dirty with the Florida style peel shrimp, but that’s just part of the experience.

If you’ve been following my blog and YouTube channel for awhile now, you know that I love ordering a whole fish as a classic entrée option. This catch of the day was fresh and delicious with very little seasoning, again, allowing the natural flavor of the grilled fish to really stand out.

These Mahi Mahi tacos with Southern cole slaw were great. I really appreciated that the fish wasn’t breaded and again you could enjoy the natural flavors.

To be honest, I don’t recall what beer was in these cups, but, the anchors just helped carry the low key beach vibes of Monty’s.
