New Orleans Guide: Loretta's Authentic Pralines

New Orleans Guide: Loretta's Authentic Pralines

Loretta’s Authentic Pralines

Address | The French Market, New Orleans, LA

Although the name is all about the pralines, we’ve discovered that Loretta’s Authentic Praline’s also serves up the best beignets in New Orleans. When we landed back in NYC after our holiday visit to Seattle, Lynette turned right back around to head to New Orleans for a few days on business and promised to bring back some of Loretta’s famous beignets. As promised, Jack and I were delivered brown paper bags full of powdered sugared, light, with airy pockets of beignets. We tried both traditional beignets—unfilled—and the praline beignets. I highly recommend that you try the praline beignets they were really something delicious. The classic plain were tasty as well.

As reviewed before, Cafe Beignet serves up some good beignets and enjoying the live jazz music in the courtyard while you get sugar dusted lips and fingertips is a fun New Orleans experience. On taste alone, I would say that Loretta’s is really the best New Orleans beignet I’ve tasted so get yourself to the French Market and let me know how you rate Loretta’s.

Lynette’s visit coincided with King’s Day (January 6th) so she also brought back a couple of slices of King’s cake from Loretta’s. It was a nice brioche-esque cake with cinnamon, covered in icing, and topped purple, yellow, and green sprinkles. It was good but the beignets were really the star of Loretta’s baked goodies.
