Cookshop

ADDRESS | 156 10th Ave. New York, NY 10011

When we first started dating, my wife and I were living in Chelsea and one of our favorite neighborhood brunch spots quickly became the Cookshop. This past holiday weekend, we decided to enjoy a family meal there with our son and niece before they both headed to the airport.

The Cookshop’s light and airy space with both indoor and outdoor seating is definitely a draw especially on sunny spring days. The food and ambiance make the Cookshop a great spot for a casual brunch or a special get together. The menu is farm to table and offers classic American favorites like burgers, and biscuits. Below are a few of the menu items we ordered on our last visit—and maybe tend to order every time!

Beignets

Dipalo’s ricotta, rhubarb jam

The beignets usually come with three but our lovely server was kind enough to up it to four for our party as a shared starter. With just a little crisp on the outside and perfectly sweet and fluffy on the inside, Cookshop beignets are always a favorite. Of course, be sure to drag your bites across the rhubarb jam for a next level taste.

Bloody Marianna

jalapeño infused tequilla, chili, and lime

Brunch is wonderful to take your time and fully enjoy your meal with a beverage of your choice. Cookshop hosts a full bar so you can enjoy brunch favorites, like the bloody Marianna, or mimosa. Tea, coffee, and juice (all of which we ordered!) is also offered on the menu.

Huevos Rancheros

two eggs, black beans, ranchero sauce, monterey jack cheese, creme fraiche, crispy tortilla, pickled jalapeño

3/4 of our party ordered the Huevos Rancheros. For lovers of a savory brunch—especially if you get a taste of the sweet with the Beignets starter—you can’t order a better dish. Crisp tortilla with a well spiced sauce and eggs, the classic is something we always order.

My son ordered a burger with a fried egg and fries. It was also a dish well done and enjoyable. The menu changes, in the past we’ve had great French toast and pancakes and I’ve enjoyed every dish we’ve had here. So New Yorkers and visitors of NYC, be sure to include Cookshop a time or two for your weekend brunch plans for a delicious farm to table meal.
