Following our visit to Livraria Lello, my son was really craving a good brunch. Due to construction we couldn’t reach a couple of places we had previously researched in Porto so Jack jumped into action for an alternative plan and found Swallow Decadent Brunch. When you find yourself in a city that was established in 1123, it’s easy to find an old world charm wherever you go. Swallow is located on a narrow street in a beautiful old building with bright contemporary decor creating an ambiance that is both portal to the past and situated in the present.

We started breakfast with a round of Americanos, mimosa, and fresh squeezed juice. Jack ordered Like A Boss which included country style fried chicken, waffle wedges, citrus crema, Mac & Cheese, home fries and seasonal fruit. The citrus crema was a nice and different touch to the chicken and waffles. My wife and I both ordered Envy Toast which consisted of smashed fresh avocado with lime and choppedcoriander. Topped with confit cherry tomatoes in garlic oil, poached egg, sunflower seeds and served on toasted artisinal bread. Included home fries and seasonal fruit.

We all enjoyed the ambiance, bright and friendly service, and hearty brunch before continuing on our adventures through Porto.
