I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season! On the 23rd of December after a family Christmas morning celebration, in a Home Alone style rush, we dashed to the airport for our evening flight to Seattle. As you may know, beginning on the 23rd of December freezing temperatures and snowstorms around the country created flight delays some going on for 4 or 5 days now. We received text messages from family with news stories of SeaTac landing and sending up record lows of aircraft due to the freeze. So, it was no small miracle when Lynette, Jack, and I boarded our flight after a mere 20 minute delay and landed in Seattle around 9:00 p.m. Thank you, JetBlue!

For Christmas Eve dinner, my in-laws booked a reservation at The Lakehouse Bellevue. I was happy to learn of the plan because the James Beard award winning Executive Chef Jason Wilson is a long time Seattle friend and I was looking forward to trying the menu.

We were seated at a table with a Christmas greeting card for our party. It was a nice touch. We started with a round of cocktails as we made our selections from the Christmas eve menu.

We started with their popular Homemade Parker House Rolls served with Arugula Basil Butter. The butter was a favorite. We were served a round of a warm seasonal chestnut soup.

As we were enjoying the meal, I did not capture each item but I can tell you about it! We added wine pairing with the meal. We started with salads. The options were a pear and squash salad with whipped Vermont creamery coupole goat cheese, endive and pomegranate (pictured below). We also ordered the grain salad which had amaranth, arugula, squash, and cheese. For the mains my wife and I had the salmon, and my brother in law went for the steak. Not pictured, my sister-in-laws risotto.

For dessert we were served sticky toffee pudding and Vahlrona chocolate cake.

Overall this was an elegant and fun Christmas eve dinner experience. The ambiance of the restaurant is clean and modern, the server was engaging and the meal was tasty.

Share you Christmas eve traditions below. Are you a stay in or go out vibe? Hope everyone is having a great winter holiday and be sure to stop by The Lakehouse Bellevue when you’re in the Seattle area.
