I’ve mentioned Mojito before as a Seattle restaurant I always visit when I’m in town and I was happy to return for a Friday night meal this last visit. Mojito serves up Authentic Latin American and Cuban food. Mojito is owned and operated by Chef Luam Werson, who is originally from East Africa, who started as a dishwasher at Mojito in 2001. Over the years, he worked his way up to become the sole owner, expanding the restaurant's offerings with a significant rum collection and signature Latin American dishes. Chef Luam’s journey embodies resilience and community support, with his dedication extending beyond the restaurant to providing meals for low-income seniors and partnering with organizations like the University Food Bank.

We started our meal at Mojito with a round of Million Dollar Mojitos, crafted with a refreshing blend of rum, mint, lime, and simple syrup, and topped off with a luxurious 5-year rum floater. The rum floater is the star of this drink. For starters, we shared Colombian-style cornmeal empanadas filled with gooey cheese. The crispy exterior gives way to a warm, cheesy center, creating a culinary experience that's both comforting and indulgent. We also enjoyed the vibrant flavors of Camarones Carmen Miranda, succulent shrimp sautéed with grilled pineapple, mango, bell peppers, and Cachaça. Served alongside crispy tostones, each bite was a tropical explosion of sweet, savory, and tangy delights.

For the main dish, I had the Pescado Mojito. A grilled white fish fillet delicately marinated in white wine with hints of cinnamon and paprika. Served atop a fragrant plantain leaf alongside rice, sweet maduros, and refreshing Ensalada de Mojito, this Caribbean-inspired dish creates a taste that transport diners to sun-kissed shores. Lynette had the Pincho Vegetariano. Featuring glazed grilled vegetables and sweet pineapple on a bamboo skewer. Accompanied by hearty black beans, fluffy rice, and crispy tostones, it's a satisfying vegetarian option bursting with flavor and texture.

To finish the meal we shared in the decadent sweetness of Tres Leches. This light sponge cake is soaked in a luscious blend of three milks. Each bite offers a creamy, moist sensation that melts on the palate, leaving a lingering taste of indulgence. Accompanied by a round of Cubanito coffee, a rich and robust brew with hints of sweetness and a smooth finish. Served piping hot, it's was the perfect way to conclude our dining experience with warmth and satisfaction.
