Travel Topics: Items to pack for a romantic getaway

We love the excitement of taking a romantic getaway. Whether you’re celebrating your partner’s birthday, marking a special anniversary, or getting to know each other, there’s nothing like savoring time together on an adventure and we have suggestions on what to pack for a romantic getaway. While getting away and making memories is the real gift, packing thoughtfully can enhance the experience and ensure that you have everything you want and need to create a stress free and truly romantic getaway. Here's our list to help guide you:

Special Touches

  • Champagne or Wine (for anniversaries we suggest selecting a bottle from the year you met): While room service and hotel bars are nice, we find it best to pack a bottle or two of champagne or wine. For champagne or chilled wines, you can request your hotel concierge to have a bucket of ice and glasses waiting for you in your room upon on arrival. This romantic gesture is the perfect start to sharing a moment in your room toasting the occasion and the adventure you’re embarking on.

  • Massage Oils: Packing massage oil to a romantic getaway adds an intimate and relaxing touch, perfect for unwinding together after a day of exploring. We recommend Aesop Breathless (Hydrating Body Treatment) for its nourishing, lightweight formula and subtly fragrant botanical blend. Alternatively, try TATCHA Forest Awakening Hinoki Body Oil for a luxurious experience that evokes the calming scent of a Japanese forest.

  • Love Notes: Leave them in unexpected places for your partner to find, their suitcase, next to their champagne glass, in the pocket of their bath robe. They’ll bring a smile to your partner’s face and make this getaway more romantic. We suggest these classic craft brown cards sealed with a classic red heart sticker.

  • Gourmet Goodies: We’re big fans of creating your own custom snack bar when traveling and a romantic getaway is a travel experience that especially calls for creating your custom snack bar. You don’t want to find yourself in your room at midnight and craving something sweet or salty and being beholden to the limited and overpriced options of a hotel mini bar. Plus, this gives you the opportunity to show your partner a little extra TLC and consideration by including some of their favorite snacks. Our tips for the perfect travel snack bar? 1. Always have a caddy to keep organized, 2. something sweet (some of our favorites: chocolate quinoa crisps, chocolate sea salt caramels or skinny dipped chocolates) 3. something savory (we like white cheddar popcorn, pistachios, cape cod potato chips ) 4. the extras…this can be anything from gum to a cigar kit, to pain killers, to hydration packets. Whatever set up prepares you for your vacation with the necessities and extras for comfort you and your partner love.

  • Silk or Satin fabrics: Bringing silk or satin robes or pillowcases to a romantic getaway adds a touch of luxury and comfort to your experience. Silk and satin fabrics feel incredibly soft against the skin, making mornings and evenings feel indulgent and special. Whether you’re lounging in a robe or resting on a silky pillowcase, these items elevate the romance and relaxation of your stay.
