New Orleans Guide: The Spotted Cat Music Club
Address | 623 Frenchmen St, New Orleans, LA 70117
Conveniently located near our hotel, Hotel Peter and Paul, Frenchmen Street in the Marigny neighborhood hosts some of New Orleans’ best jazz clubs and The Spotted Cat Music Club is at the center. Meeting up with our friends, we arrived a bit early, but the jazz band was playing at the front of the club while enthusiasts were swing dancing front and center, and others enjoyed more casually at the bar and bleached style benches to one side of the room. The space is small, but, palatial compared to the Preservation Hall. The Spotted Cat Club boasts a full bar service so pick your poison and enjoy the music.
The music is great, and the vibe is casual and fun. At one point in the evening, all of Frenchmen Street experienced a sudden blackout and when I tell you that the jazz band played on without missing a beat guided by nothing but the light of the moon shinning in through the club’s front windows, they did not miss a beat.
The Spotted Cat Music Club was one of two jazz clubs that we got to experience over our short visit and I would definitely recommend stopping in for a fun evening of New Orleans jazz.
