NYC Guide: Jack's Wife Freda
Address | 224 Lafayette St, New York, NY 10012 (additional locations in Chelsea and West Village)
My NYC Guide wouldn’t be complete without including one of our favorite brunch spots, Jack’s Wife Freda. This Mediterranean bistro is very popular and for brunch there is always a wait at this no reservations dinning experience. Be prepared to grab a cup of coffee or a cocktail at the bar while you wait to be seated. It’s a great time to catch up on the events of the week and people watch.
While I’ve dined at all three locations, the Soho spot is where we most frequently brunch, but you’ll pretty much get the same vibe and experience at each location so go wherever it is most convenient for you.
I have two favorite go to orders when we stop in for brunch at Jack’s Wife Freda. One is the green shaksuka (two baked eggs in green tomatillo shakshuka) and the other is the Mediterranean breakfast—photographed above—which includes two eggs, chopped salad, labne, avocado and pita. Both dishes are simple, light, and delicious.
Generally, we also put in an order of rosewater waffle topped with greek yogurt and fruit, to share. It’s a unique and delicious twist to a breakfast favorite.
Where do you do NYC Brunch? Let me know in the comments below. We have so many spots we love and I’m looking forward to sharing more with you on the NYC guide.
Have a great weekend and happy brunching!
